Centered Single Decrease (csd) | Purl Soho

The Centered Single Decrease is magically slant-less. It is worked over three stitches, decreasing one, and resulting in a remaining two stitches, all without creating a left or right lean.

Oh and fun fact… some people refer to it as Bunny Ears Back!

First, work a left-leaning decrease over two stitches, similar to an ssk, but you slip both stitches knitwise…

Slip one knitwise.

Slip a second stitch knitwise.

Insert the left needle into the front of both slipped stitches, knit together.

Next, you’ll work a right-leaning decrease over two stitches, the first of those stitches you will have to pick up…

Insert the left needle into the second of the just-decreased stitches, placing it onto the left needle, ready to be worked…

Insert the right needle into the next two stitches to k2tog.

The Top + Bottom Top is worked from the bottom-up. Cast on in a fingering weight and then rapidly decreased using csd to continue at a larger gauge!
